Annual General Meeting Reports From The President And Executive Director

Hello there, Vivienne here to let you know the PEDVAC AGM last Spring was an hour packed with all the accomplishments of the past year as new staff and members of the Board of Directors were happily welcomed to this great team while those who had served in the past were thanked and recognized.

This meeting is a chance for the community to come in to the offices of Port Elgin District Volunteer Action Committee to learn about all the ways people can help and be helped not only in the village but throughout the district and beyond. PEDVAC is a hub where people new to the area or even those who have been here all their lives can come to learn more about their community resources, where to get help, find opportunities to assist all while having a cup of coffee or tea.

As a proud member of the board of directors I can tell you that we have come to this team for many reasons. Some of us, new to the area came to PEDVAC to meet people in our new community, others like me, were nominated in confidence accepting the call to assist wherever our talents could serve best, and as we later learned at strategic planning meetings, we are all so honoured and humbled to serve this region.

PEDVAC’s President, Cathy Consentino and Executive Director, Val MacDermid presented their reports on the past year, recognizing each and every one of us for our contribution with great sincerity and true appreciation for each.

Everyone and anyone who is interested is always invited to the PEDVAC Annual General Meeting as the many posters throughout the area and notices in all church bulletins announce. Coffee, tea, cookies and sweet treats are served and although just an hour long, tons of information is presented to report what we do and hopefully inspire folks to come and get involved in sharing their talents and on the other side of that coin, to perhaps give someone who may not otherwise know where to turn, a place to start to rebuild their life or find a bridge from where they are to where they hope to be.

If you happen to find yourself with some time on your hands, we can always use help sorting through the donations to our charity boutique or cutting mittens. Feel free to drop in during operating hours on our Home page, check out our Opportunities to Assist link at the top of this page for ways you can help, and for more detailed information contained in Val and Cathy’s reports see the links here in the sidebar under Annual General Meeting Reports.

Thank you all for supporting PEDVAC and the far reaching good that comes out of this non-profit group of caring individuals.

Respectfully submitted,

Vivienne Edwards
